The Benefits of GaN Power Adapters
Hi, this is CUI Inc. Today, we're going to talk about the new SDI200G series. This series utilizes GaN transistors from GaN systems, as opposed to silicon-based transistors in our standard 200 watt models. Next, we're going to discuss some of the key benefits of using GaN transistors over silicon-based transistors.
The first key benefit is the compact size. The SDI200G series has a 250% power density when compared to the SDI200 series.
Another benefit is they're lighter in weight. Today, we're gonna compare these two units on a scale. As you can see, the GaN based unit is 592 grams while the silicon-based unit is 789 grams. This is a 25% weight reduction.
The last key benefit of the SDI200G series is they are highly efficient. These units meet and exceed Level VI standards with 96% energy efficiency. This series is IEC 62368 certified for ITE applications. Some applications that may find the GaN units beneficial are where size and portability are of great importance.
