Stewart Connector’s New RJ45 Modular Plugs for Large Diameter CAT6a Horizontal Cables
Devices Accept Cable Diameter Range of AWG23 to AWG24 and Accommodate Conductor Sizes up to 0.062″ in Diameter
Glen Rock, PA [September 6, 2017] Stewart Connector a Bel group company, (NASDAQ: BELFA and BELFB) and world class manufacturer of RJ45 connectors used in Ethernet communications announces the release of large diameter Category 6a (CAT6a) 8-position, 8-contact modular plugs.
Stewart Connector’s low-profile, large diameter, modular plugs are well suited for high-density switches, routers, and can be used in both shielded and unshielded applications. They feature a snag-less strain relief boot to prevent plug tab damage during installation and a wire aligner to ensure precise conductor placement during assembly. Moreover, the CAT6a modular plugs boast 360° of shielding to protect signals from external noise.
The new large OD plugs are the latest addition to Stewart Connector’s extensive portfolio of modular plugs designed to support Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T) and 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBase-T) transfer rates, along with PoE (Power over Ethernet). The CAT6a modular plugs notably accept solid conductor copper AWG23 to AWG24 cable and accommodate conductor sizes up to 0.062″ in diameter. Due to the size, standard modular plugs cannot be terminated to this cable design. The UL Listed, RoHS-compliant modular plugs support terminations requiring horizontal cabling where link lengths exceed 10m (33ft) and extending from the telecommunications outlet in the work area to the horizontal cross-connect in the telecommunications room. Stewart Connectors proprietary contact design and unique conductor load bar supports the same ability to terminate as in traditional RJ45 modular plugs.
