A Closer Look: Bel Solutions for Data Centers & High Performance Computing
The evolution of modern data centers and the Open Compute platform has placed increasing demands on the performance, efficiency, and reliability of power systems, and the ability to meet these demands from power architectures. Bel Power Solutions offers a full suite of power conversion products that meet these demands for various platforms. Bel's offering includes power shelves with built-in controllers for communicating with the data center control and monitoring network, single- or triple-output bus bars, configuration for 3+3 or 5+1 supply redundancy, and dual inputs in a 1 ou OCP compatible space. These shelves are loaded with power modules that provide always-on standby power for external PDUs and controllers, digitally controlled PFC stages, and active current sharing.
Together, Bel's power shelves and power modules are an ideal solution to the power conversion needs of any OCP data platform. For the widely used AC to 12V Dc architecture, in addition to the V2 shelf, Bel also offers the SPSPFE power shelf, which can house 18 kW of power. This shelf is compatible with the 3000 W TET3000 Titanium Efficiency and PFE3000 Platinum Efficiency PSUs, which can operate from a wide AC input and provide up to 5 Amps of 12 Volt standby power per supply. Bel's AC to 48V DC solution is based on the SPSTET4 Power Shelf, boasting 24 kW of power in the same 1 ou rack space. The TET4000 PSUs offer titanium efficiency and a programmable output set point between 42 and 58V DC, also with a 12 Volt, 5 Amp standby supply.
In central offices being converted to data centers, or other situations requiring DC-DC power conversion, Bel offers the SPSPFF3 Power Shelf, which features dual 250 Amp DC inputs, and space for 6 PFF3000 PSUs. The PFF3000 is a 3000W PSU that operates from a 40 to 72V DC input and offers a 12V output and 12V 2 Amp standby power. Bel Power Solutions' family of power shelves and PSUs can address the data center power conversion needs for all major OCP platforms.
